Parliamentary Election 2017

An Election for Members of Parliament in two constituencies that fall within the Carmarthenshire County Council area will take place on Thursday, 8 June 2017, between the hours of 7.00am to 10.00pm.

The (Acting) Returning Officer at Carmarthenshire County Council is responsible for the conduct of elections in the Carmarthen East and Dinefwr and Llanelli Constituencies. The (Acting) Returning Officer at Pembrokeshire is responsible for the conduct of elections in the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire County Council.

Facts and figures

  • The votes in two constituencies – Carmarthen East and Dinefwr Constituency and Llanelli Constituency – will be counted in Llanelli once the polling stations close.
  • As of 5th June, there are 56,720 people entitled to vote in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr and 60,186 in Llanelli.
  • There will be 151 polling stations for the two constituencies.
  • Around 330 individuals will be manning the polling stations in both constituencies with a further 130 involved in the counting of votes.
  • The polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday, 8th June.
  • Voters are asked to bring their Polling Card with them to the polling station, although this is not essential provided the individual is listed on the Register of Electors.
  • Voters in both constituencies will be asked to record a single vote.  The colour of the ballot paper in both constituencies is white.
