Could you foster?

Foster BearDo you have a spare room in your home for a child or young person? We’re looking for warm, caring and dedicated people who want to help transform children and young people’s lives in Carmarthenshire.

Fostering a child is one of the most rewarding and important things you can do. Our foster carers provide safe, loving and stable homes for children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families - whether temporary or on a longer-term basis.

They are ordinary people performing extraordinary tasks and committed to meeting the physical and emotional needs of the child/children placed in their care.

Not only is fostering a personally highly rewarding role, foster carers play a vital part in making a positive impact in a child/young persons’ life in an environment they can feel safe and supported.

Fostering is often used to provide temporary care for children whilst their birth-parents receive help to overcome problems they may be experiencing.

Once these problems are resolved and their parents are able to look after them safely, they return home. Others may stay in long-term foster care, be adopted or move on to live independently.

We offer lots of support for our foster carers - whether you’re experienced or new - including training, supervision, group support and financial help.

So, whether you’re an experienced foster carer or interested in learning more about fostering in Carmarthenshire, simply contact us today for an informal chat. You can even talk to some of our very own foster carers who would be happy to share their experiences with you.

Don’t delay, find out how you could make a positive difference to a child or young person’s life in Carmarthenshire today!
