Secondary school meals

Our Catering Service provides students with a cafeteria service in 11 secondary schools across the county which offers plenty of choice, great tasting meals and snacks to choose from to help your child get through their busy schedule whilst at school.

All of our menus comply with Healthy Eating in Schools (Nutritional Standards and Requirements) (Wales) Regulations 2013 which became legislative in September 2013.

The food we serve is freshly prepared on-site on a daily basis, using good quality ingredients.  It is our aim to ensure that all students are provided with healthy, nutritious meals and those students who require special diets are also catered for.

Our menus are nutritionally analysed using specialist software and represent value for money; we promote a range of meal deals which are set at £2.50 which are priced at the same value as our Free Meal allowance. Throughout the year we also organise and promote themed days and competitions to encourage students to try new dishes.

Our cafeteria service has changed significantly over the years with the development of cashless catering systems now in operation in ten of our schools.  The systems incorporate the latest technology and eliminate the need for students to carry cash.

Benefits of the cashless system include:

  • Increased speed of service reducing queuing times
  • Anonymity on free school meals creating increased equality and inclusion
  • No need to carry cash preventing loss/theft
  • Students learn about important lifestyle control by monitoring their own accounts
