If you are aged 60 or over and own your own home, Care and Repair Carmarthenshire will provide advice, support and practical assistance to help make your home safe, secure and appropriate to your needs.
Work that Care and Repair can help you with can range from small items, such as a dripping tap, installing handrails or new locks, to major jobs such as building a specially adapted bathroom or replacing a roof.
Services on offer from Care and Repair include:
- Technical Advice – identifying the need for repairs, maintenance or adaptations to prevent accidents or the worsening of health conditions
- Practical Help – with form filling, or obtaining builders estimates and co-ordination of work
- Financial – welfare benefits checks and information giving, help with applying for Local Authority and charitable grants
- Handyperson Scheme – small repair or adaptation works charge of £15, plus the cost of materials. There is no charge for ‘call out’ or travelling time.
