As you get older, you may need to adapt your home and you may find it difficult to carry out these repairs yourself. There are several organisations which can help meet your changing needs:
Care and Repair Carmarthenshire
If you are aged 60 or over and own your own home, Care and Repair Carmarthenshire will provide advice, support and practical assistance to help make your home safe, secure and appropriate to your needs.
Work that Care and Repair can help you with can range from small items, such as a dripping tap, installing handrails or new locks, to major jobs such as adapting a bathroom or replacing a roof.
Services on offer from Care and Repair include:
Identifying the need for repairs, maintenance or adaptations to prevent accidents or the worsening of health conditions.
Filling out forms or obtaining builders estimates and co-ordination of work.
Welfare benefits checks and information, help with applying for grants.
For small repair or adaptation works there will be a minimum charge of £15 plus the cost of materials. However, we will always quote a price before starting the work.
Healthy Home Check
A visit from an Agency Caseworker to assess the condition and suitability of the property in relation to the client's needs. This may be followed by a visit from a Technical Officer. This advice is free of charge.
