Roads and Streets

We are responsible for the maintenance of all county roads and footpaths and regular inspections are carried out to check for defects. We also have an annual programme of planned work, consisting of road resurfacing and pavement reconstruction schemes.

Visit i-Local to report a road defect online this could include uneven or broken flagstones and potholes in the road, that can cause damage to vehicles.

There are a number of trunk roads in Carmarthenshire which are the responsibility of the South Wales Trunk Road Agency. These include:

  • A477: Red Roses – St Clears
  • A40: Whitland – St Clears – Carmarthen – Llandovery – Halfway
  • A48: Pont Abraham - Carmarthen
  • A483: Pont Abraham – Llandeilo
  • A483: Llandovery – Cynghordy – Sugar Loaf

A Proposed Traffic Regulation Order gives you notice that we wish to implement a Traffic Regulation Order, giving you time to send in any objections to the proposal. The following proposed orders are currently open to objections:

The 'List of Streets' is a record of highways maintainable at public expense which may be inspected by the public. Our List of Streets can be viewed in map format by making an appointment with the Highway Searches Unit. To make an appointment please contact:

Local Authorities have prepared Local Transport Plans for submission to the Welsh Government (WG) at the end of January 2015. This Local Transport Plan replaces the Regional Transport Plan with effect from 1st April 2015. The four authorities in South West Wales have worked collaboratively to create an overarching City Region Local Transport Plan, with four local programmes of projects.
