The Shed & Beyond
The members of The Shed & Beyond (Pembrey & Burry Port Men’s Shed) have really enjoyed our involvement in the Multiply project.
The delivery of each session has been first class and in very relaxed, friendly and sometimes humorous manner.
We were lucky that our participation coincided with the planning, purchasing and construction of our wooden workshop and the sessions have certainly aided us with this. Having our math skills brushed up has certainly enabled us to proceed in a more confident way when it came to working out costs etc.
We are all looking forward to continuing our participation in the project and would certainly encourage other like-minded groups to get involved.
Lifelong Learning
Our oldest multiply participant enjoyed refreshing their cooking skills at an intergenerational cooking session at Plas y Dderwen care home. At 102 years old, June has seen 5 monarchs in her lifetime and received a telegram from the King in 2022 to celebrate her 100th birthday. She showed that you're never too old to learn when staff, families and residents took part in our fun practical cooking session, learning how to convert measurements, and reduce quantities for recipes.
Mind Garden Makeover
Working the NHS, Multiply has been using gardening as a way of delivering numeracy. From creating garden plans, spacing and measuring plants, working out quantities of compost, and when seeds will germinate and plants will grow the garden is bursting with practical numeracy examples. The sessions are fun, vibrant, and full of fresh air and practical tasks.
