Low Carbon Heat Grant
Page updated on: 14/12/2023
We have been successful in securing the Welsh Government’s Low Carbon Heat grant. The aim of the grant is to help facilitate the transition away from burning fossil fuels for heating and hot water. The council has been granted funding of just under £4million over the next two years, with a further 10% contribution coming directly from the council. The council will be utilising the funding to remove fossil fuel heating systems and upgrade to air and ground source heat pumps in 6 primary schools across the county:
- Ysgol Peniel
- Ysgol Cae’r Felin
- Ysgol Bro Brynach
- Ysgol Y Ddwylan
- Ysgol Llechyfedach
- Ysgol Y Dderwen
The installation of the heat pumps will be completed in conjunction with other energy efficiency measures (if they are not already present), such as, double glazing windows, cavity wall and loft insulation. This will maximise the reduction in carbon emissions with the project predicted to save 162tCO2e annually.
