The County of Carmarthenshire (Cowell Street and Stepney Street, Llanelli) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2020
Notice is hereby given that the Carmarthenshire County Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order the effect of which will be:
- to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along those lengths of road known as:
- Cowell Street, Llanelli from its junction with John Street to it junction with Stepney Street, and
- Stepney Street, Llanelli from its junction with Cowell Street to its junction with the Principal Road A4214 between the hours specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this Notice on the days in each week specified in Column 1 thereof.
The Order will contain exemptions for Police, Ambulance or Fire Brigade purposes, for the performance of statutory powers or duties and for access with vehicles in connection with the normal conduct of a wedding or a funeral or as part of a funeral cortege. Vehicles having entered the lengths of road more particularly referred to in paragraph 1 above prior to 10.00 a.m. but not exited by that time will be permitted to do so.
The Order is required to avoid the likelihood of danger to the public consequential of the requirement for pedestrians to maintain social distancing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the potential conflict with vehicular traffic.
It is intended that the Order will come operative on the third day of August Two Thousand and Twenty and whilst the situation will be continually monitored where appropriate temporary Road Traffic Regulation Orders may continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months.
