The County Of Carmarthenshire (Public Footpath 61/7 (Part), Morfa Lane, Carmarthen) (Temporary Prohibition Of Pedestrian Traffic) Order 2024
Reference: NFD/HTRW-863
NOTICE is hereby given that the Carmarthenshire County Council on the 24th day of April two Thousand and Twenty Four, made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any pedestrian traffic from proceeding along that length of Footpath 61/7 (Part), from a point at the eastern end of footpath 61/7, opposite the steps leading from Tesco Car Park, proceeding in a westerly direction for 122m.
The closure is required because the likelihood of danger to the public caused by a collapsing wall remains.
The Order came into force on the 29th day of April two Thousand and Twenty Four and was due to expire after a period of six months, but the likelihood of danger to the public remains on the length of Footpath 61/7 (Part) therefore the Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport, one of the Welsh Ministers, has pursuant under Section 15(5) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991) consented to extend the closure. The continuation of the Order, by the said direction, will mean that the Temporary Closure Order will continue in force until, and including the 31st of January 2025 or until there is no longer a likelihood of danger to the public.
The Alternative Route:
- from a point at the eastern end of the closure, opposite the steps leading from Tesco Car Park, proceed in an easterly direction, then turn left and proceed in a northerly direction along Morfa Lane for a distance for approximately 185m passing Carmarthen Quins Rugby Club to the roundabout. Turn left and proceed in a westerly direction along Picton Terrace for a distance of approximately 235m to the junction of The Welsh Assembly Government Offices. Turn left and proceed in a southerly direction for approximately 205m to return to a point west of the closure.
- Between the hours of 08:00 a.m. and 18:00 p.m. (approximate times) – from a point at the eastern end of the footpath closure opposite the steps leading from Tesco Car Park, proceed in a easterly direction for 60m to the steps to enter Carmarthen Park. Proceed west along the path around Carmarthen Park, exiting the gates north-west of the Velodrome, turn left and proceed in a southerly direction to the west side of the closure.
