Ysgol Rhys Prichard
Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 42 of the School Standards and Organisation (Wales) Act 2013 (the Act) and the School Organisation Code that Carmarthenshire County Council (the Council) having consulted such persons as required, propose to change the nature of provision at Ysgol Rhys Prichard, Llandovery, SA20 0HY from Dual Stream to Welsh Medium from 1 January 2020.
The Council undertook a period of consultation before deciding to publish this proposal. A consultation report for the proposal to change the nature of provision at Ysgol Rhys Prichard is currently available, which contains a summary of the issues raised by consultees, the proposers responses and the views of Estyn.
Within a period of 28 days after the date of publication of this proposal, that is to say by 22 October 2019, any person may object to this proposal. - It is the Authority’s intention to change the nature of provision at Ysgol Rhys Prichard from Dual Stream to Welsh Medium.
The Welsh Government information document “Defining schools according to Welsh medium” sets out descriptions and categories of schools according to the amount of Welsh used in teaching and learning. The document is available on the Welsh Government website.
- It is important to note that there will be no change for current pupils attending the school.
The proposed change will take place from 1 January 2020 and will only affect pupils starting at the school from this date onwards.
