Chair 2022 - 23
The Chair of Carmarthenshire County Council for 2022/2023 is Councillor Rob Evans.
He was elected to the office of Chair at the Annual meeting of the Council held on 25th May 2022, and will serve until the next Annual Meeting which will be held in May 2023. Councillor Evans represented the Dafen Electoral Ward from 2017 to 2022, and now represents the newly formed Dafen and Felinfoel Ward.
Rob hails from Llanelli. He is married to Nysia, who is his Consort this year, and is also a Councillor for the Dafen and Felinfoel Ward. They have two children, Eve and Edward, and two grandchildren, Noah and Rosie. Rob is a former member of the Royal Air Force and was employed by the Welsh Ambulance Service as a paramedic. His interests include fly fishing, rugby, travel, including visiting War Graves of WW1 & WW2 in France, and of course his grandchildren.
He is a member of the Council’s Community and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee, and sits on the Governing Body of Dafen Primary School.
The Chair is the first citizen of Carmarthenshire County Council, and is elected at the Annual Meeting. The duties include chairing full meetings of the Council and representing the Council at formal and ceremonial occasions in the County and beyond. He / she also welcomes visitors to the County and attends and supports events organised by local people and organisations.
During his / her year of office the Chair of the County Council usually raises funds for local charities. Councillor Evans will continue this excellent tradition and will be supporting the Wales Air Ambulance and Ty Bryngwyn Llanelli Hopsice.
The Vice-Chair for 2022/2023 is Councillor Louvain Roberts.
