Events to be welcomed, but with a note of caution

We’re slowly starting to see a return to normality and the latest announcement from Welsh Government certainly gives us hope.

With the go-ahead for large audience events to resume, our businesses and communities can look forward to planning something for us to get involved with and enjoy over the summer.

As always though, this does come with a note of caution. Whilst the vaccination programme is steaming ahead, with around 68% of Carmarthenshire’s adult population having at least the first dose, we cannot and should not be complacent.

We all need to make the effort and take personal responsibility for following the basic rules of social distancing, hand hygiene, wearing a face covering and self-isolating and testing if we’re feeling unwell.

Around one in three people with Coronavirus do not display any symptoms, but can still infect others unknowingly.

Most of us are eligible for self-test kits regardless of whether we have symptoms or not - lateral flow tests are available to be picked up from test centres and are available to members of the public without appointment.

The most important thing is that as we continue our journey towards recovery that we continue to look after ourselves and each other.

We’re here to help guide and advise anyone looking to organise an event safely, information is available on our website.

On a final note, this week we see the Euros kick off - we wish the Wales team every luck. Wherever you choose to support the boys, stay safe and enjoy.
