Social Enterprise

Page updated on: 18/03/2022

Social enterprises are businesses that put the interests of people and planet ahead of profit or their own gain, all together aiming to improve social or environmental objectives.  They create employment and reinvest their profits back into their business or the local community.  Social Enterprises are in our communities and on our high streets – from coffee shops and cinemas to pubs and leisure centres, banks and trusts. They operate over a range of sectors including education, health and social care, sport and leisure and entertainment.

Social enterprises have and continue to make a very large contribution into assuring sustainable and cohesive communities in Carmarthenshire. Across the County we have a variety of Social Enterprises that we work alongside, all with different services and products to offer.  These groups can be found below, along with some useful organisations that provide advice and support to social businesses.
