Essential skills in Maths and English

Page updated on: 21/10/2022

If you would like to improve your Maths or English skills, our essential skills programme can help. You can choose to study an essential skills programme in either Maths, English or both. Our programmes are suitable for beginners to level 2 and will allow you to progress to studying a GCSE in English or Maths. Studying is flexible with day and evening sessions available, which can be delivered at a pace to suit you, either online or face to face in a relaxed, friendly environment.

The programme will develop your skills to:

  • Help your children with their homework
  • Build your confidence at work
  • Gain skills for employment
  • Gain a qualification to help you progress into further or higher education

How to enrol?

If you are a new learner or have an enquiry, please telephone 01267 235413 or email to make an appointment to find out which maths or English class is right for you. All learners must complete an informal interview with a staff member and an assessment before enrolment. You can enrol at any time during the year. Please bring a copy of your photographic ID (passport or driving licence) with you.

Please don’t be worried about an assessment interview. It’s not a test! We want you to succeed and be happy in your class, the assessment is how we find out what you already know, and which would be the best class for you in terms of level and pace. You can work at a pace that suits you!

We aim to deliver all classes as advertised. However, classes may be cancelled, or changed, if enrolments are too low or in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
