Following the successful completion of statutory procedures, the new 3-11 Burry Port Community Primary School was established on the 1st September 2013 initially operating on a split site (former Burry Port Infants and Burry Port Junior School sites).
On 1st September 2015 the new Burry Port Community Primary School opened its doors on the former site of Burry Port Infants. The first Passivhaus School in Wales providing capacity for 210 pupils and 30 nursery places. Passivhaus is a rigorous voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building reducing its ecological footprint. The new development provided a KS2 extension and a POD (second hall) to form a link between the existing building and the extension as well as interior refurbishment to the existing building.
The project cost was £3.8m. Funded 50% by Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools and Colleges Programme and 50% by the Local Authority’s Modernising Education Programme.
