Project Overview
This project includes a new primary school building for Ysgol Pembrey with a capacity for 270 primary and 30 nursery places. The new school building is being constructed on land adjacent to the existing school site and will provide state-of-the-art facilities and accommodation for pupils and staff. The Flying Start facility which is currently located in a separate mobile classroom on the current school premises will be accommodated within the new school building under one roof.

Contractor Update
T Richard Jones (Betws) Ltd.’s works at Ysgol Penbre started in earnest after the Christmas break with a small groundworks team making a big impact. The team has already changed the face of the old playing field by removing the topsoil (ready for re-use) and reducing the level of Pembrey’s golden sand, found beneath the old grass surface.
Structural fill, compacted in layers is being placed to the outline of the school’s car park and the footprint of the new building. Levels are currently being built up in preparation for the installation of below ground drainage prior to placing the insulated deck ready to receive the reinforced concrete slab.
