Llanelli Vocational Village
Project Overview
This unique project proposal was to make progress with respect to WG’s transformational agenda with the establishment of a confederated ‘Vocational Village’ in the Llanelli cluster of secondary schools comprising the existing four 11-16 learning settings namely Bryngwyn, Coedcae, Glan Y Môr, St. John Lloyd, the bilingual 11-19 learning setting at Strade, Ysgol Heol Goffa special school and the post 16 tertiary institution at Coleg Sir Gâr.
The “Vocational Village” concept based at each of the learning establishments was developed to allow pupils to further develop specialist vocational skills facilities on each of the Llanelli secondary school sites.
The completed development now provides the following facilities in particular:
Bryngwyn - a Construction Skills Education Centre
St John Lloyd - a specialist catering training facility and small training restaurant
Strade - a music technology facility
Coedcae - a performing arts and media facility
Glan Y Môr - a caring and child care facility
Project Cost
The projects were funded by Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools and Colleges Programme and by the Local Authority's Modernising Education Programme.
