From Tuesday 29th May, a fixed 2 metre height restriction barrier will be in place at Trostre Household Waste Recycling Centre.
We are responding to resident’s concerns over long queuing times at the site, due to large vehicles taking longer to unload. This is also causing safety issues for other users of the site which is restricted in size.
The barrier will be in place from Tuesday 29th May 2018, and will remain at the site for the foreseeable future. It will be operational 7 days a week.
Nantycaws, Carmarthen has facilities for household and business waste. There are also a number of licensed private sites, which can be found on line by searching: ‘waste transfer stations in my area’.
Please note most domestic waste will be accepted free of charge at Nantycaws, with a few minor exceptions such as tyres, gas bottles, fire extinguishers and sheets of asbestos. For business waste there will be a charge at Nantycaws, other private facilities will also charge.
Nantycaws Household Waste Recycling Centre and landfill are located on the A40 dual carriageway between Crosshands and Carmarthen.

The site is currently operating under summer hours 8.30am – 7.00pm seven days a week.
No. This is for your own safety, Trostre is a busy site and there is no footpath. Vehicles are constantly manoeuvring around the site making it unsafe for pedestrians, who would also pose an additional hazard for drivers.
Blue bags, black bags and food waste can be put out for your normal collection at home. Some items such as small electrical items and glass, can be taken to your nearest recycling site.
You will have to take the waste to Nantycaws. The new barrier is fixed and unmanned. Staff on site are busy helping site users and cannot make exceptions to lift the barrier.
