Learn about gilding and decorative painting techniques along with plenty of practice with the techniques - then a final project. Suitable for art projects, home decorating, crafts and gifts…
Each session will last for three hours: | 9:00-12:00pm |
Cost to attend: | £85 for 6 sessions |
Materials included: | we will supply all you need. |
A friendly learning space adjacent to St Peter’s car park.
Your tutor will be Patricia Campos BA who trained at Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva (FRESS) in Lisbon, Portugal.

Week 1:

Gold & Metallic Foil Brief Introduction of topic: Gold & Metallic foil. Different types of Gilding + Gilding Flakes. Techniques with metallic foil: where and how it can be applied. (Textured; Plain; Messy (unfinished); Gilding for effects). List of Materials required. Demonstration of different gilding techniques. Practical: create and practise Gilding techniques on card (A4; A3). |
Week 2:

Decorative Painting Techniques Brief introduction of topic: Decorative Painting. Different types of Decorative Painting: marbling, sponge effects, stencilling. List of materials. Demonstration of different decorative Painting techniques. Practical: create and practise Decorative Painting on card (A3). |
Week 3:
|
Prepare, & Apply Gilding Continued from previous session. Prepare canvas sheet and apply metallic foil. Use texture on the surface before applying foil (optional) |
Week 4: |
Creating a Motif Choose a motif to paint on your gilded surface. Transfer the drawing/motif to be painted onto the project. Starting painting: Use acrylic paints to create an amazing painting on a golden background. |
Week 5: | Decorative Painting for your Project Continued from previous session. Use Decorative Painting to embellish the project. |
Week 6: |
Finalise all projects |

Payment can be by cash, cheque made payable to 'Carmarthenshire County Council' or online (link provided on enrolment). Please also bring photographic ID (passport or driving licence).
We aim to deliver all courses as advertised. However courses may be cancelled, or changed, if enrolments are too low, or in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
