School Admissions / Changing schools

You can apply for your child to attend school from the age of 3, however you do not have to do this. All children must receive an education from the age of 5 years old. We only accept applications for schools in Carmarthenshire, if you are applying for a school in another County please contact them directly.

Please remember that even if you have spoken to a school and they have said there are places available until you’ve made an application and had confirmation from us that your child has been accepted they cannot start school.

Please note: Contact the school directly to make your application if you are considering sending your child to one of the following schools:

  • Model Church of Wales Primary School Carmarthen,
  • St.Mary’s Catholic Primary school in Llanelli
  • St. Mary’s Catholic Primary school in Carmarthen
  • Penboyr Church of Wales
  • Pentip Church of Wales
  • St.John Lloyd Catholic Secondary School, Llanelli

You cannot apply for special educational needs schools, your child would be assessed by an Additional Learning Needs Officer and a place would only be allocated if appropriate.
