Annual Canvass 2026
Page updated on: 28/08/2026
Every year, we contact all households in Carmarthenshire to confirm who lives at the address. We do this so that we can check if the details on the electoral register are correct and to keep our register of eligible electors up to date. This is called the annual canvass.
Over the next few weeks, we will contact you by post, e-mail or phone depending on the information we have for you. Please read the information carefully and inform us if there are any changes to make.
How to update your details
It is important that you respond to your canvass communication form as soon as possible if you have any changes to be made.
You can do this online by following the instructions on the form you are sent:
- visit the website: update your details
- security code part 1 <enter number received>
- security code part 2 <enter number received>
- update your household information and submit
You should include the names and nationalities of everyone who lives at this address.
If you add any new electors they will also need to complete a registration application.
The law in Wales has changed. 14 -16 year-olds and qualifying nationals living in Wales can now register to vote.
If we have sent you a blank form through the post, this means that we don’t have any information on the people living at the address. You will need to complete the form online or send it back to us via post. If the property is empty, you will still need to complete the form to confirm there isn’t anyone living at the address.
Care homes, nursing homes and hospital accommodation
If you manage a care home, nursing home or hospital accommodation, we will send you a letter which will include a list of all your residents. The easiest to way to confirm the details is online. However, if you would like to include additional details for your residents, such as letting us know if they have dementia, then please complete the paper form and send it back to us using the pre-paid envelope.
You must respond by law
Even if you have voted in recent elections you must still respond to this form if we require further information from you.
If we do not receive a response from you, we will send you a reminder via post, over the phone or by visiting your property. It’s important you provide the information requested, if you don’t, Government rules mean you could be fined £1,000.
