Why are we consulting

As part of our statutory duties under the Active Travel Act (Wales) we are required to map our current and future (proposed) routes.

The map sets out the existing walking, wheeling, and cycling routes across the county, alongside proposed improvements, suggestions, and future routes that the Council will be seeking to develop and implement over the next 15 years.

Carmarthenshire County Council is inviting feedback on these routes and any suggested additions, as routes not included on the Active Travel Network Map cannot be considered for funding from the Welsh Government or other sources to be created or improved.

How to get involved

We will have an online survey, but it can also be directly uploaded to the online platform: Carmarthenshire County Council's Active Travel Map.

You can also email comments to activetravel@carmarthenshire.gov.uk

Or come along to an informal drop-in session to discuss the map, ask questions and provide feedback from 2pm to 6pm on:
  • 21 September 2026 at Llanelli Library
  • 22 September 2026 at Carmarthen Library
  • 24 September 2026 at Ammanford Library

A paper copy of the consultation can also be requested from any of the Council’s Hwbs in Ammanford, Carmarthen or Llanelli.

Next Steps

Suggestions and comments received via the online platform above and survey will be included (where applicable) in our submission to Welsh Government on 1st December.
