The Chair of Carmarthenshire County Council for 2025/2026 is Councillor Dot Jones.
She was elected to the office of Chair at the Annual meeting of the Council held on 21st May 2025, and will serve until the next Annual Meeting which will be held in May 2026.
Councillor Jones has represented the Llannon Electoral Ward since May 2017.
Councillor Jones sits on the Council’s Corporate Performance & Resources Scrutiny Committee, Licensing Committee and Corporate Parenting Panel.
Councillor Jones works as a Civil Servant. Her interests include music, Formula One, cross stich and quizzing.
During their year of office the Chair of the County Council usually raises funds for local charities. Councillor Jones will continue this excellent tradition and will be supporting Blood Bikes Wales.
Dot's sister, Ellen, is her Consort this year.
The Chair is the first citizen of Carmarthenshire County Council, and is elected at the Annual Meeting. The duties include chairing full meetings of the Council and representing the Council at formal and ceremonial occasions in the County and beyond. They also welcome visitors to the County and attend and support events organised by local people and organisations.
The Vice-Chair for 2025/2026 is Councillor Giles Morgan.
