Support for adoptive families

From your initial visit, you'll have a dedicated adoption social worker who will guide you through the process.
We provide a high level of support to adopters and their families throughout the adopted child's life, recognising that needs evolve over time. Many adoptive families will seek advice or additional support at different points in they journey, whether navigating early attachment, transitions at school, or teenage years.
Support available
We provide a full range of services, from pre-approval training to adoption support. This support may include:
- Assessment of adoption support needs
- Direct work with children and families
- Support groups and workshops
- Life Story Work
- Letterbox contact
- Therapeutic parenting courses
- Play therapy
- 1 to 1 parenting support
- Playgroups
These services are delivered through a mixture of face to face sessions, virtual online sessions and via our learning platforms, providing flexibility to suit your family's circumstances.
We also hold regular Family Fun Days, creating opportunities for adoptive families to connect with others who share similar experiences in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
For families currently adopting with us, we share regular updates on adoption support, activities, events and news from our team and trusted partners. If you're not receiving these emails, please get in touch so we can ensure you're added to our mailing list.

If your adoptive child has additional needs, we'll help you access the right support and services.
Supporting contact agreements
Some children placed for adoption will have contact agreements in place with members of their birth family. These arrangements are carefully considered to support the child's identity and wellbeing.
We provide advice and ongoing support to help you understand and manage these agreements with confidence.
