Allotment and Community Growing Grant

The primary purpose of the Funding is to increase the availability of good quality allotment plots and community growing spaces in Carmarthenshire.  By utilising the funding to support community growing, the fund will enable local people to access healthy food whilst also developing new skills.

The fund is open for applications from 10 June 2025 with a deadline for submission of 5pm on the 24 June 2025.

 

Priority will be given to projects that:

  • Create new plots/community growing spaces e.g re-purposing land, splitting full sized plots
  • and/or; bring derelict plots back into use e.g – site clearance, re-fencing

 

Projects will also be eligible where they will:

  • Improve accessibility e.g - improving pathways, plots with adjacent parking for less abled users
  • Improve site services e.g - Shared sheds or tools, water system, polytunnels, materials for plot creation
  • Improve site security e.g - fencing, lockable sheds, CCTV/security lighting if necessary
  • Improve site management e.g - signage etc
  • Increase recycling / renewability e.g - recycling point, water collection, waste management etc

Who can apply?

To be eligible for this funding, groups or organisations must:

  • Demonstrate that the proposal will clearly benefit the residents and communities of Carmarthenshire.
  • Be a constituted community group a registered Charity, Social Enterprise or CIO based in Wales.

 

How much can organisations apply for?

Organisations can apply for a maximum of £5,000 and a minimum of £1,000 up to 100% of total project costs. Match funding is not required.

Groups must pay upfront for all project expenditure and claim the allocated funding from Carmarthenshire County Council in arrears.
