Carmarthenshire Summer SACRVE Meeting - Tuesday, 7th July, 2026

We were delighted to be invited to Ysgol y Ddwylan, Newcastle Emlyn, to host the Summer meeting of Carmarthenshire SACRVE. Members were warmly welcomed by staff and enjoyed the opportunity to meet in such a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.

A particular highlight of the afternoon was hearing from Leon Morgan, who shared an overview of the school’s approach to Religion, Values and Ethics (RVE) and Collective Worship. Members were impressed by the strength of the school’s provision, which clearly reflects a thoughtful and purposeful commitment to supporting learners’ spiritual, moral and ethical development. Leon showcased how RVE is embedded across the curriculum, providing meaningful opportunities for pupils to explore beliefs, values, identity and diversity in ways that are engaging and relevant to their lives.

The presentation also demonstrated the school’s dedication to creating an inclusive ethos where learners are encouraged to reflect, ask questions and develop respect for different viewpoints. Members were particularly interested in the ways in which collective worship contributes to the life of the school, supporting a strong sense of community while providing opportunities for reflection and personal growth.
SACRVE members were grateful to Leon and the staff of Ysgol y Ddwylan for hosting the meeting and for sharing examples of their excellent practice. Visits such as these provide valuable opportunities for members to see RVE and collective worship in action and to celebrate the high-quality work taking place in schools across Carmarthenshire.
