Challenge Overview

Throughout October, schools will compete in two special categories:

Camau Bach (Little Steps) – for primary schools
Camau Mawr (Big Steps) – for secondary schools

Pupils are encouraged to walk, wheel, cycle, scoot, or Park & Stride on their journey to school.

Let’s see which Carmarthenshire schools can take the most steps for sustainability!

How It Works

  • Every morning, classes complete a quick “hands-up” survey: Who walked, cycled, wheeled, scooted, or parked & strided today?
  • Each class tallies up their totals using our official record sheets.
  • School coordinators submit weekly totals to our team.
  • At the end of the month, we’ll celebrate the schools with the most active journeys!

What Counts as an Active Journey?

  • Walking
  • Cycling or scooting
  • Wheelchair or wheeled travel
  • Park & Stride (if your family parks 5–10 mins away and walks the rest)

Every step counts – even if you just walk part of the way!

Prizes & Recognition

The top Schools in Each Category wins a £100 voucher for the highest percentage of active journeys (primary + secondary)

Second Place – £50 voucher

Third Place – £25 voucher

All participating schools will receive digital certificates and social media shout-outs!
