Contaminated Land Register
Page updated on: 26/06/2026
Local Authorities are required to maintain a public register, open for inspection, of regulatory action taken in relation to the remediation of contaminated land. This requirement is set out in Section 78R of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
The register provides a permanent record of any land that has been formally determined as Contaminated Land, and the actions taken by the enforcing authority in respect of that land.
Is there any Contaminated Land within Carmarthenshire?
Whilst Carmarthenshire contains land which may be affected by contamination, no sites have currently been formally determined as Contaminated Land under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
It should be noted that the absence of entries on the public register does not indicate that land within the County is free from contamination.
