Digital Services – Work Experience Placement
Interested in IT, digital solutions, and technology in the workplace?
This placement provides hands-on experience across a wide range of IT and digital services.

Throughout August, Waste Officers will be available at locations throughout Carmarthenshire to answer your questions about the new Separated Recycling service, which will be introduced to around one third of homes from mid-late autumn 2026.
They can also provide information for residents who will be staying on the current Mixed Recycling (blue bags) service for now.
Carmarthen Hwb - Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am-4pm
Llanelli Hwb - Every Thursday, 9am-4pm
Princess Gwenllian Centre, Kidwelly - Monday 10 August, 10am-2pm
Laugharne Memorial Hall - Wednesday 12 August, 10am-2pm
Y Gât, St Clears - Thursday 12 August, 10am-2pm
Llanybydder Rugby Club - Wednesday 19 August, 10am-2pm
Whitland Town Hall - Monday 24 August, 10am-2pm

Future changes to recycling collections in parts of Carmarthenshire

Shadow Digital Officers, support hardware and software troubleshooting, and take part in site visits to corporate and school buildings. Experience may also include the IT Workshop and an overview of the IT Helpdesk.
Gain insight into website development, online forms, and SQL server database development, learning how technology supports services across the organisation.
Explore networking, cybersecurity, and systems management, with opportunities to participate in projects led by the Digital Transformational Team.
Work with experienced staff across multiple departments, contributing to IT projects while visiting sites including County Hall and 3 Spilman Street, Carmarthen.
This placement is ideal for anyone looking to develop practical IT and digital skills, gain exposure to real-world systems, and understand how technology supports organisational operations.
