CWM Gwyrdd Nantycaws

The Future of Resource Efficiency in the heart of Carmarthenshire.

The UK's Largest Circular Economy Park

CWM Gwyrdd Nantycaws Vision is the creation of a flagship green economy enterprise.

The 84 ha site builds on our existing strengths in resource efficiency, renewable energy and biodiversity, whilst creating new space for low carbon enterprises and environmental restoration.

CWM Gwyrdd Nantycaws is designed to support growth, collaboration and community benefit, driven by the shared goal of economic growth and achieving a net zero carbon economy.

The Vision

  • A UK Leader in Resource Recovery
  • Over 1,500 Green Jobs Created
  • 20MW of Sustainable Power Generation
  • Over 30,00m2 for Green Businesses and innovation
  • Europe’s Largest Reuse Village
  • Over 2 miles of Walking Routes and Biodiversity Protected Zones

Renewable Energy Generation

The vision for CWM Gwyrdd Nantycaws includes a major shift toward clean, sustainable renewable energy. 20MW of renewable energy infrastructure will be included in the development, which in conjunction with battery storage, will create a fully self-sufficient site.

Any surplus energy will be exported to the grid, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy supply for the wider region. This is a key step in reducing carbon emissions and supporting Wales’ Net Zero ambitions.

Exploring Hydrogen Innovation

As part of our commitment to embracing emerging technologies, we are exploring the role of hydrogen energy within our wider renewable energy programme. By planning for future integration of hydrogen infrastructure, we aim to support innovation in clean fuel production, low carbon transport and energy storage. This forward looking approach ensures the park remains at the forefront of energy transition and ready to support evolving demand across Wales and beyond.

Enhanced Resource Recovery

A new state of the art Resource Recovery Facility (RRF), set to open in winter 2025, will significantly expand the region’s capacity to sort and produce high quality commodities.

The RRF will serve businesses and communities across South and West Wales, recovering materials for reuse and recycling. This development marks a major step forward in our mission to keep resources in use for longer and support Wales’ transition to a circular economy.

Circular Economy Manufacturing

A new Circular Economy Manufacturing area will create new products from recovered materials. This will be a Centre of Excellence for green economy innovation and manufacturing, producing new products out of waste materials.

By keeping resources in use and adding value locally, the facility will support job creation, low carbon production and the growth of sustainable supply chains across the region.

Research and Development Cluster

Partnerships to be formed with Prifysgol Abertawe / Swansea University and Prifysgol Caerdydd / Cardiff University and other similar organisations to establish a dedicated Research and Development hub focused on advancing circular economy innovation. This space will support collaborative research into material reuse, low carbon technologies, and sustainable design. In parallel, Universities will have a permanent on-site presence, providing education, training, and skills development tailored to the needs of the green economy.

Canolfan Eto: Expanding Reuse at Scale

Building on the success of Canolfan Eto, the existing Reuse Village, we plan to expand further to create Europe’s largest dedicated reuse infrastructure. This will become a national model for circular economy practice, supporting repair and reuse at scale and enabling community engagement in sustainable living.

The expanded facility will bring together reuse, retail, repair workshops, skills training, and innovation space, helping to maximise the value of recovered items while creating jobs and supporting local enterprises.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

The proposed park will include a large-scale EV charging network designed to support both commercial fleets and public EV users.

With growing demand for low-emission transport, the in-demand infrastructure will enable businesses to transition low carbon transport while also providing public access for everyday users.

All EV charging infrastructure will be powered by renewable energy, enabling competitive charge costs for customers.

Light Industry Business Park

A dedicated Light Industry Business Park will be developed to meet the current shortfall in supply across South West Wales.

This area will accommodate small and medium sized enterprises, offering flexible modern units suitable for manufacturing, assembly, storage and low impact industrial activity, with space designed to evolve as businesses grow.

By clustering like-minded enterprises in a shared environment, the business park will support collaboration and green economy innovation helping local firms thrive while contributing to a more sustainable regional economy.
