Why we consulted
We’re inviting you to take part in an important consultation that will help shape the next phase of development at the Museum of Land Speed in Pendine.
Following a successful Stage 1 application to the Welsh Government Capital Transformation Fund, we are now preparing a full Stage 2 bid for funding to support a major transformation project. This funding would enable us to:
- Convert the current Temporary Exhibition Gallery into a Permanent Exhibition Gallery.
- Renew and improve interactive exhibits to enhance accessibility and visitor engagement.
- Upgrade signage and wayfinding to improve the visitor experience across the site.
These improvements are based on recommendations from our Visit Wales VAQAS accreditation and valuable visitor feedback. With two successful years of operation behind us—including award wins, strong press coverage, and growing visitor numbers—now is the perfect time to build on this momentum.
A key part of our funding application is the development of themes for the new Permanent Exhibition Gallery. To ensure these themes reflect the interests and needs of our audiences, we’ve commissioned Headland Design, expert Heritage Interpretation Consultants, to carry out audience insight research.
This survey is a vital part of that research. It will help us understand:
- What interests and motivates our visitors.
- How different audiences engage with heritage and exhibitions.
- Who our key audiences are, based on demographic insights.
The survey results will directly inform the interpretation plan for the new gallery and strengthen our funding application. It’s crucial that we gather a statistically significant number of responses before the quieter off-season begins in November.
