Sustainable modes of travel

The Local Authority encourages learners to use sustainable modes of travel to and from school wherever it is safe and practical to do so. This includes active travel - walking, cycling, and the use of public transport, rather than travelling by private car. Sustainable modes of transport are those that may improve the physical wellbeing of users or contribute positively to the environmental wellbeing of the Local Authority area.

Information on local bus and rail services is available from Traveline Cymru at Traveline.Cymru or by calling 0800 464 0000. Further information and advice are also available on the Carmarthenshire County Council at Public Bus Services.

The Local Authority works with public transport providers to support suitable transport options for journeys to and from school and is committed to promoting safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible travel for learners.

A limited number of spare seats may be available on some contracted school transport vehicles. Refer to point Appendix 3 for detailed guidance.
