Phones out of sight

Mobile phones are an increasing part of children and young people’s lives and there has been much attention on the extent to which this is a positive or a negative.

We recognise that mobile phones are useful tools for communication. However, their misuse is a growing concern both locally and nationally. Our priority is to safeguard student wellbeing, maintain a positive learning environment, and encourage healthy social interaction. After thorough consultation with staff, students, and parents, we are implementing a mobile phone ban during school hours.

Why the Ban?

  • Disruption to Learning: Phones can distract students from lessons.
  • Online Safety Concerns: Misuse, cyberbullying, harassment, and inappropriate image sharing.
  • Wellbeing Focus: Reducing screen time helps improve concentration, social skills, and emotional health.
