Flood Risk Management Strategies and Work Plans
Page updated on: 01/04/2025
The flood and water management act 2010 requires that all 22 local authorities produce a flood risk management strategy. We also produce a more operational document and a flood risk management plan (FRMP). These strategies and plans detail how we will deliver the Welsh Governments aims and objectives pertaining to flood risk management, but more importantly to the businesses and residents in Carmarthenshire. They highlight the areas at greatest flood risk and how we aim to manage that risk in the short, medium and long term.
In developing the strategy, we balance the needs of communities, the economy and the environment. Our local strategy forms the framework within which communities have a greater say in local risk management decisions. It encourages more effective risk management by allowing residents, communities, business and the public sector to work together.
