Completed Council Housing Developments

Wauniago House, Carmarthen

Wauniago House in Carmarthen was a Council owned and managed building that was in need of modernisation. The buidling had become outdated and was no longer fit for purpose, resulting in them becoming difficult to let.

The demolition of the building makes way for 4 new modern homes that will benefit from the latest innovations in energy efficiency. This will lower energy bills for our tenants, and reduce carbon emissions.

• 3 two-bedroom homes; and
• 1 four-bedroom home

This innovative development shows our commitment to reusing existing Council building to maximise the land we own and build homes in the places they are needed most.

The homes will have a very high fabric performance, are built using sustainable materials and can generate and store their own energy to provide free electricity to be used at any time of the day.

The homes are heated with electric meaning there are no fossil fuels on site, creating a very low carbon footprint for the development.

YMCA, Llanelli

Llanelli YMCA was for many years a vibrant and dynamic organisation and the building provided important leisure facilities for generations of young people in Llanelli during their formative years before it closed in 2009.

The former YMCA building is being redeveloped for commercial and community use on the ground and 1st floors and providing modern, energy efficient apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

YMCA will provide an additional 8 new Council homes and will contain:

• 8 two-bedroom apartments

Bringing old buildings back into use is important to us and a key strategic objective for the Council as part of regeneration of the town centre.

5-8 Spilman Street, Carmarthen

5-8 Spilman Street was previously a Carmarthenshire County Council office accommodation, and it has been repurposed to provide much needed accommodation in the heart of Carmarthen Town centre.

This development provides an additional 12 new Council homes and will contain:

• 2 two-bedroom accessible apartments
• 10 one-bedroom apartments

The apartments are energy efficient and will have lower energy bills for tenants. The apartments and communal spaces are heated by electric and there is no fossil fuels within the development, resulting in a low carbon footprint for the building.

Each apartment has access to free electricity generated through Solar Panels on the roof which means hot water, heating and electric devices can be powered by the sun before using electric from the grid.

Glanmor Terrace & Clos Y Bacca, Burry Port

Located within close proximity to Burry Port harbour, Glanmor Terrace is the Councils most innovative development yet.

This development provides an additional 32 new Council homes and will contain:

• 10 one-bedroom apartments and;
• 22 two-bedroom homes

The homes are very energy efficient and will have lower energy bills for tenants.

The homes are built to PassivHaus principles, meaning they have a very high fabric performance, are built using sustainable materials and can generate and store their own energy to provide free electricity to be used at any time of the day.

The homes are heated with electric meaning there are no fossil fuels on site, creating a very low carbon footprint for the development.

Heol Cae Ysgubor, Ammanford

Located adjacent to Ty Dyffryn and within close proximity to Coleg Sir Gâr (Ammanford) and the town centre.

This development provides an additional 28 new Council homes and will contain:

• 18 two-bedroom homes
• 6 three-bedroom homes and;
• 4 four-bedroom homes

The homes are energy efficient and will have lower energy bills for tenants.

The homes are built with a high fabric performance and have Solar Panels, meaning the homes use less energy to heat and produce green, free electricity during the day.

Dylan, Llanelli

Dylan is near Llanelli town centre and within a 5 minute drive of Parc Trostre.

Dylan is one of the councils first new build developments. This development provides an additional 32 new council homes and contains:

• 22 two-bedroom homes
• 4 two-bedroom bungalows
• 6 four-bedroom homes

The homes are energy efficient and has lower energy bills for tenants. They were built to a high quality which also helps reduce carbon emissions into the environment and improve health and well-being.

We are also testing the latest low carbon innovative technology in two of our homes. This will help us develop our future new build design standards.

Garreglwyd, Pembrey

Near to the sea side town of Burry Port, less than a 5 minute drive to one of Wales’s Top Visitor attractions Pembrey Country Park, with its award winning sandy beach - Cefn Sidan and 500 acres of woodland.

Garreglwyd provides an additional 14 new Council homes and contains:

• 12 two-bedroom Homes
• 2 two-bedroom Homes

The homes are energy efficient and will have lower energy bills for tenants. They were built to a high quality which will also help reduce carbon emissions into the environment and improve health and well-being.

Maespiode, Llandybie

Maespiode is one of the Councils first new build developments completed as part of the new delivery programme.

This development provides an additional 8 new Council homes and will contain:

• 8 two-bedroom homes
