What our staff say about us
In 2022, a survey was undertaken to gain an insight from staff about how they felt about working for the Council and their views on Council performance. We also attained Gold accreditation from Investors in People
Here are some of the key findings:
The Council’s values are a fundamental part of the culture and ethos within the organisation, guiding the way that we work, the way we improve and the ways in which we make decisions in our communities.
Because of its progressive and open culture ,staff are equipped to respond to challenges with strength and a positive attitude. The leadership style is open and transparent, agile, and approachable. The organisation has both developed and is attracting skilled and talented leaders, who are keen to realise the potential the Council has created.
Staff from all departments strongly agree that they know what is expected from them at work. This is directly correlated with staff knowing what their manager expects of them.
There is agreement amongst staff across departments that they have the right skills and equipment to do their work.
The leadership style is open, transparent, agile, and approachable.
The Council is achieving outstanding outcomes as a result of the ways in which people are encouraged and empowered to be agile, innovative, and collaborative.
There is agreement from staff that they have been encouraged to learn and develop in their role and that they have had opportunities to learn and grow in the last 12 months.
Overall, staff are proud to work for the Council, reflected in the survey responses with staff from all departments agreeing or strongly agreeing that they would recommend the Council as an employer.
Don’t just take our word….this is what the staff had to say about the Council.

“I think CCC is an excellent employer with some really good initiatives to support staff”
“I work for a team in planning and am proud to do so. We are innovative, progressive, and committed, and are a leader across Wales in our field and I feel very grateful for the support that my managers have afforded us over the years.”
“COVID 19 fast tracked our agile working agenda and the IT division responded well in terms of making sure we could all work remotely. This way of working has increased my productivity and I feel trusted to get on with my work.”
“Our division has opted to work in an agile way and the hybrid working approach the council is taking is going a long way to support me to a) be more productive b) have less down time because I'm not travelling between meetings and c) have a better work life balance”
“I meet with my colleagues a few times a month face to face to do things we cannot do remotely. We also use this time as anchor days where we make sure we are all doing ok. Working in this way makes me feel trusted and valued.”
