Page updated on: 09/05/2025
This scheme is designed to empower local community groups, charities, and social enterprises to enhance outdoor spaces across Carmarthenshire. Through this scheme, we aim to create greener, more sustainable, and accessible environments that benefit people, place, and nature.
It is funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, with support from Carmarthenshire County Council, and has a total fund of £39,000 available to eligible projects.
For further details, please use the dropdowns below and download the scheme guidance document.
Applications forms and contact information are available at the bottom of the page.
*** Please submit your applications by the Friday 6th June 2025 ***
Eligible applicants can apply for grants between £1,000 and £3,000, covering up to 100% of total project costs. Match funding is not required, but additional contributions will be viewed positively.
Funding is allocated on a reimbursement basis, meaning applicants must pay for approved expenditure upfront and submit a claim for reimbursement.
This is a capital-only fund, meaning funding can be used to purchase equipment, infrastructure, or make physical improvements related to community Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI). Examples of eligible projects include:
- Community gardens and growing spaces - raised beds, polytunnels, edible planting.
- Outdoor play and learning areas - creating natural, interactive spaces for children.
- Tree and wildflower planting - enhancing biodiversity and pollinator-friendly landscaping.
- Improved public spaces - benches, bike racks, nature trails, and wayfinding signage.
- Greening urban areas - vertical gardens, green roofs, or urban tree planting.
Projects must align with at least one of the five key objectives:
- Improving Community Greenspace
- Enhancing Biodiversity and Access to Nature
- Promoting Placemaking and Town Centre Regeneration
- Mitigating Environmental Pollution
- Demonstrating Innovative GBI Solutions
The scheme is open to constituted groups, registered charities, schools, and social enterprises based in Wales. Projects must be located within one of the principal centres (Carmarthen, Llanelli, Ammanford) or the Ten Towns (Crosshands, Cwmaman, Kidwelly, Laugharne, Llandeilo, Llandovery, Llanybydder, Newcastle Emlyn, St. Clears, Whitland)
Applicants must have appropriate governance and financial management procedures in place and demonstrate a clear community benefit.
Applicants must complete and submit a full application form detailing their organisation’s details, project summary, location, indicative costs, and any additional funding sought.
The application window opens on 12 May 2025 and closes on 6 June 2025.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply. Please note that late applications will not be considered. Please contact us if you have any questions about your application or would like to discuss your project idea.
Once applications have been assessed, those successful will receive an ‘Offer Letter’ outlining the terms and conditions of the award (subject to the submission of any relevant information, if requested). Unsuccessful applicants will be informed.
All approved projects must be completed and claimed for by 31st October 2025.
