Applications for closures more than Five days duration require Twelve weeks' notice before you expect the roadworks to start.

Applications for closures up to Five days duration require six weeks' before you expect the roadworks to start.

If you can maintain a road width of 3.2 metres or more, you do not need to apply for a road closure but you will need to inform us of the works and depending on the nature of the roadworks you may need to request lighting portable traffic and the relevant street works licence.

 

Planned road closure fees

You will be charged the following to apply. 

  • Up to 5 days - £1275.00
  • Over 5 days - £1887.00 In addition, advertising costs will be charged at a later date; these will vary but will be about £700.00.
  • All TO15 closures (emergency, up to 5 days and over 5 days) - £900

We accept debit / credit card payments. Application fees are non-refundable.

We can also provide a signage schedule for temporary signs for the alternative route, this would be at an additional cost of £263.00.

If your application for over 5 days is approved, you will also be sent an invoice for the cost of road closure advertising.

Charge for amendments to existing orders & notices, to include changes in dates - £475.00

Road Closure for Events

The first point of contact for events is via the ESAG (Event Safety Group), who can be contacted on the below e mail address: EventSafetyAG@carmarthenshire.gov.uk

Thereafter, we will require your event management plan, public liability insurance, risk assessment, and a full traffic management plan showing the extent of the closure, alternative route and diversionary signing, you may have to utilise a traffic management company for this. 

Once you have completed the above, please contact us at ENTrafficManagement@carmarthenshire.gov.uk  for an application form for temporary road closures for your use, we do not currently charge for events, but this may be subject to change.  We need a minimum of 12 weeks notice for any closure linked to an event.

How to apply

To apply for a planned road closure, you will need to provide:

  • Photographic and / or written evidence. Failure to provide sufficient evidence will result in the need for a site meeting to be held before work can commence.
  • A suitable alternative route that can be used.
  • Location plan of closure.
  • Fees

Work should only start once you have received an email confirming approval.
