ARFOR 2
The main objective of Arfor 2 is to support the communities that are strongholds of the Welsh language to flourish through economic interventions which will also contribute to increasing opportunities to see and use the Welsh language on a daily basis.
As part of the programme, targeted work streams have been developed providing opportunities for businesses, community organisations and public sector to address the challenges that face the Arfor region.
Enterprising communities
One of the programme's interventions is the Enterprising Communities fund which aims to develop Welsh Language Spaces that offer a natural environment for people to work and socialise through the medium of Welsh.
Operating as a third party grant opportunity for businesses and community organisations based in Carmarthenshire, the fund aims to provide support to develop projects that align with the programme's strategic aims and provide solutions to the challenges identified across the region.
What is the offer?
- Financial support to fund up to 70% of project costs up to a maximum of £7,000
- Projects must be completed by 27 February 2025.
Applicants will need to:
- Commit to the principles of ARFOR, by signing an agreement of joint principles.
- Complete a linguistic assessment via the Welsh Language Commissioner’s Cynnig Cymraeg (Welsh Offer) scheme.
- Commit to attending specific webinars e.g., Net Zero; Bilingualism
- Commit to reviewing and increasing the use of the Welsh Language.
- Commit to offering the Living Wage rates of the Living Wage Foundation.
This programme has re-opened for a short period of time.
Applications must be submitted by Sunday 12 January 2025
It is expected that successful applicants will be notified by end of January
Applicants must be able to provide assurances that this is possible to complete by the deadline noted of 27 February 2025

Llwyddo'n Lleol Careers in Carmarthenshire
Carmarthenshire based businesses are invited to be a part of an exciting new initiative that could provide financial support to your business for hosting a young person.
Who is eligible?
- A business or establishment that has a valuable opportunity/post to offer a local individual
- A business or establishment that has a valuable opportunity to develop a staff member / offer a current staff member new experience
- A business or establishment that operates or has its main office in the Carmarthenshire
- A business or establishment that is run primarily through the medium of Welsh or at least gives both Welsh and English an equal platform/emphasis.
Can you offer?
- A work placement within an innovative area – for example – technology, science, carbon neutral, digital marketing, communication, health and welfare, renewable energy, agri-tech etc.
- Offer the individual a period of work and/or unique experiences
- Offer the individual interesting work opportunities
- Offer the individual mentoring and training sessions so that they benefit as much as possible from the partnership
What can we offer?
- You may apply for up to £6,000 towards the cost of wages, special opportunities and/or training a staff member under the age of 35.
- Support may be given to people who are already in employment (i.e. a business seeking support to develop a current member of staff)
Recruitment process
- Llwyddo’n Lleol will recruit young people to take part in the programme and will pair young people with companies/establishments from the same field of work.
- Or You, can actively recruit into the role or identify their own individuals.
