Tina started her career in Malta, teaching English as a foreign language, secondary school geography and Criminology at the University of Malta. She has worked in the criminal justice service, and then worked on a number of externally funded projects for Carmarthenshire County Councils education department, supporting marginalised groups. Tina is a committed lifelong learner; believes we all have skills and talents and that everyone deserves a second chance. Tina also loves cycling, cooking and eating, sewing and walking her sheepdog Frodo.
Essential Skills Tutor / ESOL
Annette is an experienced ESOL tutor and careers advisor. Previous roles have included supporting Syrian learners with their English, and helped those not in education, employment, or training to re-engage. As well as delivering ESOL, and budgeting sessions, she is keen to show people that they already have and use these skills in everyday life. She is looking forward to developing sessions that help people feel more confident about working with numbers.
Signposting Lead
Beth is an experienced land manager and outdoor education facilitator with a background in Parks and Gardens, and land-based courses. She will be helping to signpost people and organisations to great opportunities in the Multiply project. Beth will be offering digital literacy and numeracy in the outdoors.
Finance Quality & Performance Officer
Hello, my name is Carwyn and I’m the Finance, Quality & Performance Officer on the Multiply project. I am responsible for claims, ensuring the project is on target with the budget and participant numbers. Outside of work I’m a father to two daughters a crazy cocker spaniel called Twm, and I enjoy most sports especially rugby and darts.
Basic Skills Tutor
Specialising in the primary sector, Caroline teaches maths to parents to give them the ability and confidence to support their child’s numeracy development at school. She particularly enjoys the challenge of ‘converting’ adults who have long carried a negative perception of maths, enabling many to go on to formal qualifications, including GCSEs.
Signposting Lead
Jenny is a tutor with over thirty years’ experience in the care sector. She is experienced in engaging learners and helping people succeed in AON, Digital Literacy through workshops. She loves seeing people achieve and is looking forward to helping more people to develop their abilities through fun activities within the Multiply project. Jenny believes that everyone possesses hidden talents, strengths and interests that are waiting to be discovered, and exploring different activities can unlock and harness these abilities.
Basic Skills Tutor
Julie is an experienced tutor, with a Primary teaching background. She has worked within the Family Learning sector; delivering a variety of Numeracy workshops to help parents to improve their confidence and skills; to then enable them to support their children at home. She enjoys sharing ideas of how Maths can be woven into everyday routines and involve the whole family particularly. She finds being part of the developing exploratory conversation between parent and child, that encourages and directs learning, particularly rewarding.
Adult Numeracy Advisory Teacher
Lorna is an experienced secondary teacher and has taught all ages in different subject areas including Science and Maths. Lorna has worked with learners with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties and has seen how outdoor learning benefits learners' wellbeing and self-confidence. She enjoys working with learners and hopes that by developing positive relationships with them they can grow in confidence and re-discover a love for learning.
Administrative Assistant
Lynda is the administrative assistant for Multiply, and helps keep the project together behind the scenes. Coordinating supplies and services, ensuring we are compliant in our record keeping, and helping to answer enquiries from people and businesses. Lynda has a long history of supporting projects through administrative duties having previously worked for the NHS. She is a regular source of support and inspiration helping to find unique ways to overcome challenges and support the delivery team.
Basic Skills Tutor
Michele is an educator in Maths, IT, English, Photography and Swimming. She currently works with adult learners to help them achieve GCSE Maths to enable them to progress with their careers; she has found this work particularly rewarding. Michele sees herself as an enabler and works hard to help students to learn and to solve problems themselves thereby building confidence and self-esteem.
Adult Numeracy Advisory Teacher
Nick is an experienced secondary school maths teacher, respected in positions as a numercy and maths advisor. Many GCSE and A level maths learners across Wales continue to benefit from online support through his ‘Jones the Sums’ website and YouTube channels. In his new role with Herio-Multiply, Nick is excited about engaging with adults across Carmarthenshire, helping them discover that numeracy is not something to be avoided, but can be engaging and useful to many aspects of everyday life.
Numeracy Advisory Teacher
Owain is an experienced Secondary school maths teacher and was Head of Mathematics for 26 years in a school in West Wales and 4 years at a school in Jersey (Channel Islands). By applying his extensive knowledge of modern techniques of teaching maths in schools, he will be working with the other advisory teachers in the project, to support teaching assistants and parents in schools across the county, along with delivering engaging sessions in the community.
Delivery Coordinator
Sue is an experienced Maths Tutor, L4 Higher Apprenticeships Assessor, IQA and Project Team Leader, having worked in Coleg Sir Gar and Neath College, HM Prison Swansea and most recently at ACL working with adults in the community to improve their maths skills. She uses her varied skills in both numeracy and art therapy to help adults overcome anxiety about maths allowing people to progress in their careers, or even just enjoy helping their children with homework.
