Carmarthenshire County Council is offering a range of exciting apprenticeship opportunities starting in September 2025.
As an apprentice, you will be mentored by our experienced staff while also spending a portion of your paid time attending training with your training provider to help you gain the skills you need to complete your qualification. Our Amdani apprenticeship programme is for anyone 16 or over who are early in their career or looking for a career change, there is no upper age limit but there may be some restrictions or other entry requirements depending on the role you are applying for.

Digital Learning Apprentice (Level 3)
Our Learning and Development Team are looking for someone who’s creative, interested in technology and curious about how people learn online. This is your chance to explore how digital tools can support learning and development across the Council.
As a Welsh speaker with a keen eye for detail and a love for helping others, you’ll play a key role in creating engaging bilingual content and supporting staff through their learning journeys. You’ll gain hands-on experience with learning platforms, digital content creation, and the latest trends in online learning — all while making a real difference to how we grow and develop as a team.

HR Higher Apprentice (Level 5)
Joining the HR team at Carmarthenshire County Council as an apprentice offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a higher-level apprentice, you will be immersed in the day-to-day operations of the HR department. This hands-on experience will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of HR practices, policies, and procedures, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field. Policy Apprentice (Level 3)
Our Policy and Involvement team is excited to offer a placement opportunity for individuals interested in making a positive impact in the lives of residents. This placement is ideal for those eager to learn how our service supports residents through the corporate complaints process and key policy areas such as the Welsh Language Standards and the Equalities Act.
If you have a passion for supporting residents or are looking to gain valuable experience in this area, this placement is perfect for you. You will work alongside our experienced team and colleagues across the council to address and resolve complaints, ensuring compliance with key policies and fostering a positive culture.
Additionally, this role provides an opportunity to utilise your Welsh language skills daily, helping to build your confidence and effectively communicate with residents. Join us in ensuring policy compliance and in the development of an effective complaints process where every resident's voice is heard and respected.

Higher Apprentice Translator (Level 4)
We are looking for a motivated, well organised, and customer focused person to join our Team. This is a busy service dealing with a significant volume of translation requests be it written or simultaneous translation every year from both internal and external service users. By working within the team you would learn about the statutory Welsh Language Standards that apply to the Authority and how we support this.
Our Translation Team are excited to offer a level 4 apprenticeship opportunity for those interested in learning how we deliver and support specialised translation from English to Welsh and Welsh to English.
This opportunity is open for those who are 18 years old and above and are eager to undertake the Translation Practice (Welsh Language) apprenticeship qualification. You will work alongside our experienced staff who will mentor and support you to deliver an effective and efficient translation service.

Economic Development Apprentice (Level 2)
The Economic Development Team helps improve local areas and support businesses across Carmarthenshire. Our goal is to turn good ideas into real support that helps businesses, people, and communities grow. We run our own projects and also support others, with a focus on town centres, placemaking, and funding opportunities Funding - Carmarthenshire County Council.
Our Economic Development team is looking for someone who’s keen to learn, dependable, and enthusiastic. If you enjoy tackling new challenges, solving problems, and working with people, this is a great chance to get real experience in a busy, supportive team. You’ll learn how we help businesses, individuals, and communities by turning ideas into action with the right support. There will be opportunities to get involved in town centre improvements, talking to the public, working with local businesses, and helping to develop new projects.

Customer Service Apprentice (Level 2)
Are you friendly, organised, and passionate about helping others? Join our team at Actif as an Apprentice Customer Service Assistant and take the first step toward a rewarding career in customer service. As an apprentice, you’ll work closely with experienced staff to welcome and support customers, handle enquiries, and deliver excellent front-of-house service. You’ll gain hands-on experience using booking systems, responding to a wide range of customer needs, and ensuring a smooth, positive experience for everyone who visits our facilities.
You’ll be at the heart of our centres, helping operations run smoothly while developing strong communication and problem-solving skills. Full training and support will be provided as you work towards a recognised customer service qualification – all you need is a can-do attitude, a willingness to learn, and a friendly approach. You’ll also have the opportunity to use your Welsh language skills to support a bilingual and inclusive service, helping us connect with even more people and promote wellbeing across the county.

Business Support Apprentice (Level 2)
Join our Business Support and Commissioning Team and take the first step towards a rewarding career in administration. We're offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to grow as a Business Support Assistant.
As an apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience delivering vital administrative support across the Department for Communities. From managing enquiries and producing reports to supporting team projects whilst completing a relevant qualification, you'll develop essential skills in a professional and supportive environment.

Data & Performance Apprentice (Level 3)
Our Data and Performance Team are excited to offer an Apprenticeship opportunity to a person with a passion for data and making the best use of it. If you have a curious mind and a flair for problem solving, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
You will work alongside a skilled and knowledgeable team who will support you to develop your analytical skills and capabilities across a range of internal systems which support Council activity. You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the organisation, gaining a unique insight into the way that the Council works, playing an integral role in supporting departments to achieve their goals and track their progress.

Systems & Performance Higher Apprentice (Level 4)
Becoming a Systems Development and Performance Higher level apprentice within the HR team at Carmarthenshire County Council offers a unique opportunity to develop specialised skills in systems development and performance management. Flood and Coastal Data Support Apprenticeship (Level 3)
Our Flood Defence and Coastal Protection team is excited to offer an apprenticeship opportunity in providing Data Support to the team. If you have an interest in Geography and the Environment, enjoy the outdoors and utilising data to support decision making to best help protect our communities, then this is the perfect opportunity.
You will play an important role in supporting the wider team in the management, recording and presentation of data. This will include contributing to reports, helping in the management of data and databases and the opportunity to improve existing systems. In what will be a varied role, you will also have the opportunity to assist the team with other responsibilities such as responding to flooding incidents and data collection in the field.

Catering Apprentice (Level 2)
Are you passionate about food, eager to learn, and looking for an exciting start to your catering career? Join our welcoming team at Actif as an Apprentice Catering Assistant and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. As an apprentice, you’ll work alongside our experienced catering team to prepare and serve food, maintain high hygiene standards, and deliver excellent customer service. You’ll be trained in all aspects of catering operations, from kitchen preparation to front-of-house service, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth daily running of our catering services.
We’ll provide full training and support as you work towards a recognised catering qualification – all we ask is that you bring enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude. You’ll also have the opportunity to use your Welsh language skills to support a bilingual and inclusive service, helping us reach more people and promote leisure and wellbeing across the county.

Apprentice Fleet (Workshop) (Level 2)
Our Fleet team is excited to offer a placement opportunity for individuals interested in becoming an apprentice in the fleet workshop. We are looking for talented individuals who, given the opportunity, will become our professionals of the future.
We are looking for two apprentices to join our fleet department based at Trostre and Cillefwr workshops on a two-year contract.
The position is to gain a level 2 NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair whilst working in an exciting evolving vehicle workshop environment whilst being mentored by our experienced qualified technicians. The theory learning will be based in Cardiff and Vale College for a day a week.
Each role comprises a combination of learning through practical hands-on experience and the opportunity to study for a professional qualification. In addition, there will be further professional development via in-house and external courses, seminars and workshops, plus access to mentoring from senior managers.
We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority, as they are currently under-represented within this service area. Additionally, this role provides a wonderful opportunity to utilise your Welsh language skills daily, helping to build your confidence.

Libraries - Makerspace Apprentice (Level 3)
Carmarthenshire Library Service are looking for someone who is creative, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking with a genuine interest in public libraries.
You will be given the chance to work with people of all ages, particularly school pupils. As an apprentice, you'll support and promote our Makerspace services. A vibrant, creative hub where the public can explore cutting-edge technology like 3D printers, coding kits, and virtual reality. You’ll help deliver hands-on workshops and support sessions for school groups and the wider public, encouraging creativity, digital skills, and lifelong learning. You’ll have the chance to explore and gain experience in the Reference Library and IT department, supporting information and research enquiries.

Leisure Facilities Apprentice (Level 2)
Are you enthusiastic, eager to learn, and passionate about helping others? Join our friendly team at Actif as a Leisure Facilities Apprentice and start your journey in the leisure industry. As an apprentice, you’ll support the daily operations of our facilities while gaining essential skills in customer service, health and safety, and leisure operations. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll help ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all our customers. You’ll also be involved in supervising pool sessions, setting up equipment, supporting junior programmes, and learning what it takes to deliver a high-quality leisure experience.
A good level of swimming ability is essential, as the role involves working in and around the pool, including lifeguarding support. We’ll provide full training and help you work towards a recognised qualification – all we ask is that you bring energy, commitment, and a positive attitude. You’ll also have the opportunity to use your Welsh language skills to support a bilingual and inclusive service, helping us reach more people and promote wellbeing across the county
