Make your own deodorant or shaving balm that can be stored in reusable glass containers. Deodorant can be made from household items such as baking soda, coconut oil, shea butter and essential oils.
Instead of foil, try using reusable containers or beeswax wraps to keep your food fresh. You can even make your own beeswax wraps from spare fabric you have at home.
Wood ash makes an excellent fertiliser and can be applied directly to flower beds or vegetable patches during winter.
Get creative with party decorations - bunting and banners are reusable alternatives. Bubbles also make a great alternative to balloons for children's parties.
Consider changing to rechargeable batteries. Alternatively check if there's a battery recycling point where you work, if there isn't have a look at setting one up. Some companies collect them for free
If you are thinking about getting rid of your bike because it is damaged, is there anything you could do to repair it? Repair and reuse is even better for the environment than recycling!
