Transforming Tyisha - Development Opportunity
1. Introduction
Tyisha is transforming and Carmarthenshire County Council is ready to take the next step to find a potential partner to join us on our ambitious journey to transform the area.
An Early Market Engagement process was conducted in 2022, followed by the release of a Prior Information Notice in Autumn 2023 which invited partners to express their interest in future developments.
We are looking to change Tyisha through a phased approach. This began with the demolition of outdated housing in 2022 and buying property and land to add to the future developer’s portfolio. We now want to take the next steps to build brand-new homes for local people to provide opportunities to first time buyers, families and those needing social housing. We will also improve the area by providing more green spaces and improving the environment.
Alongside these physical improvements we will also intensify the delivery of family support services, skills development provision and outreach work so that we can work with the local community in Tyisha to meet their needs and aspirations making the area a prosperous place to live.
This forms part of Carmarthenshire County Council’s ambitious plans to regenerate the Tyisha ward and wider Llanelli town centre area which is undergoing massive investment.
Residents have had their say and told us that they want: better housing provision, more job opportunities, a cleaner environment and a safer place to live.
The Vision
To deliver new housing of a different tenure, new mixed-use developments, more community facilities and improved environmental conditions. This in turn will support the improvement of the social and economic profile of the area and provide opportunities for education, training, and employment.
