Project title: Innovation and Business Preparedness - Pentre Awel

Investment Priority: Supporting Local Business

Location: Carmarthenshire

This project aims to establish a dedicated Innovation and Business Team for the Pentre Awel project. Working in partnership with Cardiff University, the team’s primary goal is to prepare and initiate critical activities that precede the opening of Pentre Awel, a groundbreaking development bringing together business, research, academia, health, and leisure within a technology-driven infrastructure. The team will ensure that the necessary processes, procedures, and prerequisites are in place for efficient and effective business and innovation operations.
Its objectives include:
• Developing business and clinical incubation spaces to support local businesses and research-based companies.
• Establishing a "living lab" for research and product validation.
• Focusing on social models and community health imperatives, especially in the green space adjacent to Pentre Awel.
• Building robust IT and digital infrastructure to handle data, cybersecurity, and patient healthcare.
• Implementing audit and governance measures to ensure the effectiveness and independence of Pentre Awel.
