FAQs - Apprenticeships
Page updated on: 10/09/2024
An apprenticeship is a paid job. As an apprentice you will learn skills relevant to the role you are training for, complete a nationally recognised qualification and earn a salary. You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will support you to gain experience and learn about the job.
There are 5 different apprenticeship levels that we support. These are:
- Level 2 - Foundation Apprenticeship
- Level 3 - Apprenticeship
- Level 4/5 - Higher Apprenticeship
- Level 6 - Degree Apprenticeship
The level you will undertake depends on the job role you apply for.
Apprenticeships are open to anyone 16 or over, there is no upper age limit but there may be some restrictions or other entry requirements depending on the role you are applying for.
You won’t need to pay anything towards your training as this will be supported by us.
This will depend on what qualification you are doing. There are different ways to support your learning alongside the on the job experience, for example:
- Attend virtual sessions
- Attending college part-time
- Attending a local training centre where you may attend one day a week or in block.
- If you are doing a Degree Apprentice, then you would attend University or College.
The length of the apprenticeship depends on the qualification you are working towards. Typically, our apprenticeships last between eighteen months and four years.
You will be supported along the way by the Work Related Learning Coordinator, as well as your manager and colleagues.
We are a Disability Confident Employer and will work with you to put support in place so that you can work confidently in your new role.
Any offers of employment will be conditional until you have had your formal results.
This will depend on what your apprenticeship is in. We have offices throughout the county but the main areas apprentices will be based are:
- Carmarthen
- Llanelli
- Ammanford
Your pay will vary depending on what level apprenticeship you are looking to do. You will need to check the job advert to see what the salary is.
