Copy of a certificate
Request a copy of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate
We can provide copies of birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificates for events that took place in Carmarthenshire.
We hold records of births, deaths and marriages from 1st July 1837. Civil Partnership records are held from 5th December 2005.
The information we need to process your request depends on the type of certificate you’d like a copy of. If you’re unable to provide all of the information or would like us to carry out a family history search you will be charged an additional search fee of £15 per hour (up to a maximum 3 hours per search). This is non-refundable and will be discussed with you and agreed in advance.
Standard service
- £11 per certificate.

Priority service

- £35 per certificate.
- Issued within 24 hours*
How to pay
Once your certificate reference has been located, we will contact you to take a debit or credit card payment over the phone. If you prefer, you can pay by cash at any one of our offices.
Postage / collection
You can have your certificate posted to your home address or you can collect it in person from our Carmarthen Office at Parc Myrddin, Richmond Terrace, Carmarthen, SA31 1HQ. You will need to bring photographic proof of ID if you collect it from our office, for example a driving licence, passport. All certificates are posted using 2nd class mail. There is no additional charge for this.
