Ten Towns Project

A brand-new pump track has been developed in Llandeilo following on from support from both Ten Towns funds and Sports Wales. The pump track is an all-purpose built cycling track, which can be used by all ages and abilities. The track is designed to be ridden completely by users, enabling riders to maintain speed and momentum by using their body weight and gravity to make their way round the track, instead of pedalling or pushing. 
 The response so far has been extremely positive with visitors travelling from all over to visit this new attraction in Llandeilo. In the first month, over 1000 Google location visits had been made to explore the new attraction, which has led to fantastic support from far and wide. 

Ten Towns Revenue project

 

Llandeilo Town Council have commissioned Blwm Marketing to create a marketing plan for Llandeilo, with the aim of increasing footfall in the town. The plan focuses on attracting local residents, overnight visitors, and those who spend time and money in local businesses.

Ten Towns Circular Economy Fund

Llandeilo permaculture group have been awarded support to develop their established group further by creating products made from waste material to support healthcare services users.

Revitalising Rural Town Centres

Local business owners highlighted the need for assistance in enhancing the exterior appearance of their properties. In response, a dedicated grant fund was established to support this initiative. Twenty high street businesses in Llandeilo were approved for funding to improve the exterior of their buildings, contributing to the town’s overall vibrancy and visual appeal.

Local artist Steve Jenkins known as Jenks Art, has created a mural in Llandeilo which has gained positive reactions from visitors and residents.

Ten Towns Events Fund

Llandeilo has firmly established itself as a festival town, hosting a diverse range of events that support the local visitor economy year-round. Three funding applications were approved to develop new events in the town:

  • Menter Dinefwr received support to introduce Gŵyl Helo Hanes in October, 2024, a family-focused event celebrating Llandeilo's rich heritage.
  • The Llandeilo Lit Fest in April, secured funding to launch a new Kid’s Fest aimed at younger audiences.
  • Llandeilo Pride received support to expand its June event, increasing its presence in the town centre.

Tackling Towns

To enhance the successful town centre events and facilitate the development of new ones, the upper area of the Crescent car park has been upgraded. This included installing electric sockets and enabling businesses to utilise the space for various town centre activities.

 

Meanwhile Spaces

A vacant commercial property in Llandeilo is now available through support from the Ten Towns Programme. The Means in Llanelli has partnered with local property owners to offer short-term leases to independent businesses, helping them establish a presence on the high street. One success is Papercraft by Jessica, which secured space through the initiative. The project allows small businesses to "test trade," filling vacant spaces and potentially leading to long-term occupancy.

ARFOR Fund

Cegin Diod opened in Llandeilo Market Hall, offering a café eatery in the newly developed employment and event space in the town centre. With support from Arfor, the business was able to focus on Welsh language marketing, create events, and invest in capital equipment to enhance their new venture.

Town Centre Loan

Khan Dental Care, a well-established practice in Swansea, has secured a contract to provide NHS dental services in Llandeilo. The new facility will offer both NHS and private services, serving over 5,000 patients and creating new job opportunities, benefiting the local economy.
