Heron’s Wing Hide Bridge Replacement Project
This project has addressed the urgent work needed on the Heron’s Wing Hide Bridge at the Wildfowl and Wetlands centre in Llanelli. The bridge is a prominent visual piece that spans the Millennium Coastal Path. The original bridge was assessed by a structural engineer as ‘vulnerable to failure in the immediate future’. The bridge is now secured as a vital structure, connecting visitors to the wetlands, and its refurbishment has been key to retaining and enhancing both visitor experience, education and conservation efforts.
The new bridge has attracted many new visitors to the centre and the project has been supported by numerous volunteers.
