What can we do?

The aim is for Wales to reach net zero by 2050, which means the greenhouse gases removed from the atmosphere are in balance with the greenhouse gases emitted. We all need to work together to make this happen – Welsh Government, local authorities, communities, businesses, and everyone in Wales.

In Carmarthenshire, we are committed to tackling climate change and acknowledge our significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We aim to become a net carbon zero local authority by 2030, starting with our measurable carbon footprint. This effort extends across all Council departments, with initiatives to encourage residents, businesses, and other organizations to cut their own carbon footprints.

We can all contribute by living more sustainably: using less, reusing, repairing, and recycling more; reducing food waste; buying only what we need; lowering home energy use; and opting for cycling, walking, and wheeling. Additionally, we can shop more sustainably, make healthier food choices, adapt our homes for better energy efficiency, and consider electric vehicles when replacing our cars.
